I am an actively practicing chiropractor like you, and spend quite a few hours of my day engaged in marketing efforts. In 2010, the internet is now mature and has made its way into most people’s lives in one form or another. It is where most people get their news, entertain themselves, conduct research on things they plan to purchase (price comparisons, business review sites, Wikipedias, and so on), and of course communicate via email. In response to this epic change in civilized society, I have adapted to the times and spend most of my marketing efforts on the online arena.
Let me be the first to say that you should NOT rely solely on the internet to do your chiropractic marketing. It should be one of several components to your monthly marketing plan. Internal referrals, health talks, screenings, traditional print advertising, and networking with other provider types should still be the basic staples of your marketing. Just like mutual funds spread the risk over many stocks, you should have multiple marketing projects running simultaneously, bringing in patients. This will create more stability in your numbers.
For me personally I have actually made internet marketing a hobby of mine, and I engage in internet marketing in niches outside of chiropractic. I used this knowledge to build a website that ranks high in the search engines for hundreds of relevant keyphrases and brings in new patients every week. I understand that this is not something most chiropractors want to do, as it is very time consuming and can be too technical for their tastes. But I know that, when done right, internet marketing can be a huge source of patient referrals for most chiropractors; they just need someone to explain how it all works.
My goal in creating and maintaining this site is to identify and test various web-based products, and determine how they can be utilized to increase revenue; whether through generating new patients, facilitating new revenue streams, or lowering overhead costs by increasing efficiency in one way or another. I have spent $thousands of dollars since 1999 trying out different products and discovering the ones worth using.
So what can this site do for you? Well, think of it this way: there are a lot of good chiropractic consultants out there who give very good advice on all aspects of running a successful practice; I’m sure you know many of them. They have covered the bases well on this subject, and I am not attempting to recreate the wheel.
My chosen niche is in setting up low overhead, low stress practices that utilize various new technologies to automate parts of the practice. What I report on this site centers around my theme, which I refer to as the Guerilla Chiropractic method (borrowing from the title of a very popular business marketing book published a while back). The reward will be more time to LIVE LIFE. More time to spend with your children, your spouse, your friends; more time to engage in your hobbies and favorite activities; more time to read your favorite novel and watch your favorite TV shows.
If you intend to run a smaller, low overhead and low stress practice that utilizes internet technologies to automate tasks then I think you’ll find a lot of helpful, actionable information here that can help you reach that goal. That is what Chiropractic Rescue Plan is all about.
