Fans of this site know that I advocate a practice approach that is different from what most chiropractors are doing. I call it Guerilla Chiropractic and have written a short ebook that explains its principles.
I’ll be the first to admit that Guerilla Chiropractic is not for everyone. There are things in it that will turn off some, if not many chiropractors. It pretty much addresses, I believe in a fair way, the obstacles that are unique to chiropractic. I mean, picking up the phone and trying to book a corporate health talk in your town is not everyone’s cup of tea.
One of the principles of Guerilla Chiropractic is diversification of revenue streams. Just like a mutual fund that invests in hundreds of companies in different industries, a drop in one sector will not sink the fund because the other sectors will make up for it.
The other is low overhead, minimum staff to remove stress so that you are able to engage in building these other revenue streams. It’s difficult to explore other ways to make money if you are burdened with a $20,000+ per month overhead from your chiropractic business. That’s a whole heck of a lot of adjustments in today’s crappy insurance climate and hyper-marketed-to consumer. And if your PVA is low, your daily existence will consist of stressing out over ways to get new patients to keep the engine going. That’s no way to enjoy what you do as a chiropractor.
If you buy Guerilla Chiropractic, you can at least adapt the concepts to your particular interests and passions. It’s all about keeping a pulse on the chiropractic market and taking proactive steps to make sure your income continues to climb no matter what the market does.
